What You'll Do as a Veterinary Assistant

  • Check in patients for exams by obtaining accurate patient history from clients.
  • Communicate with owners about our wellness recommendations and treatment plans.
  • Anticipate the needs of the DVM and work cohesively with other team members to complete appointments efficiently.
  • Assess overall patient health and obtain weights and temperatures.
  • Safely and compassionately restrain patients for a variety of treatments, including blood draws and vaccination. 
  • Practice low stress and Fear Free methods when working with patients.
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic testing, including cytologies, venipuncture, and radiographs.
  • Assess patients and aid their recovery from sedation or anesthesia.
  • Fill medications to the doctors’ orders and explain prescriptions to clients.
  • Clean and straighten exam rooms to prepare for incoming patients following OSHA guidelines.

What You'll Bring as a Veterinary Assistant

  • A passion for helping pets and their people.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a clinical, patient-facing role in a veterinary setting is highly preferred; however, we are willing to train highly motivated individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Possess an excellent attitude to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and sense of personal accountability and reliability.
