We have a new opportunity for a Sr. Manager of Compensation and Payroll to join our Service Center team.  This position will be located in our shared service center in either the Greater Salt Lake City, Utah area or in Olympia, WA. Our Sr. Manager of Compensation and Payroll will be responsible to:

  • Design and create best in class payroll processing for a rapidly growing national multi-site veterinary service business with current operations of 2,000+ employees, 115 locations across 15 states.
  • Lead, manage, and coach the payroll team to excellent performance including biweekly and semimonthly payroll processing, overtime calculations, minimum wage compliance, paid time off, tax withholdings, garnishments, 401K contributions and applicable benefits contributions and withholdings.
  • Support and calculate multiple incentive compensation plans across the employee base and ensure timely and accurate payment of incentive compensation.
  • Manage the data, entries and reconciliations that flow into the company’s Accounting system, working closely with the Controller to ensure accurate payroll accounting.
  • Collaborate closely with the Human Resource team for new hires, terminations, and changes.
  • Liaison to the M&A integration team to onboard new hospital locations and employees.
  • Manage regular preparation of relevant reporting to internal and external stakeholders including workers compensation, professional liability insurance, management reports and ad-hoc analytics.
  • Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes that will automate workflow and create the foundation for increasing growth and pay complexity that varies locally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration (HR), accounting, finance, or a related field with 8+ years applicable payroll and compensation experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to prepare, organize and analyze data.
  • Experience in federal, state and local wage and hour laws and administration.
  • Demonstrates solid judgement always ensuring integrity and confidentiality.
  • Nimble, highly collaborative and proven ability to lead through growth and change.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; especially excel.
  • Experience processing and managing payroll in a large HRIS and accounting systems.
  • Experience managing hundreds of individual pay contracts, each with their own unique combination of terms (preferred)
  • Certified Payroll Professional, CPP (preferred)
  • Experience in ADP WorforceNow and Sage Intacct (preferred).
