Qualifications:
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Veterinary Technician Certification or License (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) preferred (but not required), valid LVT credentials in Washington, or pending credentials within 3-6 months.
  • Candidates who do not possess Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure, but have relevant experience with a strong desire to become licensed within 2-3 years, are encouraged to apply. The ideal Veterinary Technician will be a driver of hospital procedures and workflow, focusing on creating an outstanding customer service experience and taking pride in offering unmatched compassionate care. You will establish a movement of patients and clients through appointments and procedures. Your ability to educate and communicate effectively with both clients and your team are crucial!

Veterinary Technician Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in phlebotomy, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, dental prophies
  • Perform quality full body and dental radiographs for subsequent evaluation by DVMs
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with coworkers and clients
  • Obtain and record patient history and client communication in a professional, detailed manner
  • Provide surgical discharges and home care instructions to clients after patient procedures

Veterinary Technician Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Veterinary Technician with licensure preferred in the State of WA or pending credentials within 3-6 months.
  • Candidates who do not possess licensure but has relevant experience and has strong desire to become licensed within 2-3 years are encouraged to apply.  Tuition Assistance for Penn Foster program is available for qualified candidates.
  • Ability to assist in animal restraint, lift up to 40 lbs., and work on your feet all day

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities

  • Clean and straighten exam rooms to prepare for incoming patients following OSHA guidelines
  • Be familiar with infectious and common zoonotic diseases; including prevention, and the steps to reduce or eliminate transmission
  • Assist in restraining pets in a manner that allows necessary procedures to be done with minimal stress to patients, and ensure safety of patients and people 
  • Take accurate notes and medical history of patients in exam rooms for doctors
  • Anticipate the needs of the doctor for routine exam/surgery visits; follow doctors request to fill or refill medications
  • Take temperatures, samples, vitals as requested by doctor; draw up vaccines, flea/tick medication/prevention, etc.

Veterinary Assistant Qualifications 

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced experience as a veterinary technician or assistant required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Possess a good attitude and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Strong English — written and verbal language skills
  • Advanced animal care, restraints, client/customer interaction experience required
  • Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, labwork, radiology, and pharmacology highly preferred
