Veterinary Technician Responsibilities

  • Clean and straighten exam rooms to prepare for incoming patients following OSHA guidelines
  • Be familiar with infectious and common zoonotic diseases; including prevention, and the steps to reduce or eliminate transmission
  • Assist in restraining pets in a manner that allows necessary procedures to be done with minimal stress to patients, and ensure safety of patients and people 
  • Take accurate notes and medical history of patients in exam rooms for doctors
  • Anticipate the needs of the doctor for routine exam/surgery visits; follow doctors request to fill or refill medications
  • Take temperatures, samples, vitals as requested by doctor; draw up vaccines, flea/tick medication/prevention, etc.

Veterinary Technician Qualifications 

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced experience as a veterinary technician required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Possess a good attitude and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Strong English — written and verbal language skills
  • Advanced animal care, restraints, client/customer interaction experience required
  • Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, labwork, radiology, and pharmacology highly preferred

Arapaho Road Animal Clinic is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join their small animal practice.

Arapaho Road Animal Clinic is a busy, walk-in clinic and has exciting days providing comprehensive pet health care. We offer a wide variety of medical, surgical, and dental services, and we are looking to add another veterinarian to our team! We also have experienced licensed support staff, outstanding assistants, a strong practice manager, and a local Regional Manager to provide additional support to complement our doctors.

We offer digital radiography, an in-house laboratory, a high-speed dental machine, and surgical monitoring (EKG, SpO2, blood pressure).

We are currently seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal Licensed Veterinary Technician will drive hospital procedures and workflow, deliver an outstanding customer experience and take pride in offering unmatched compassionate care. You will establish an efficient movement of patients and clients through appointments. You will ensure communication with clients is clear and understood, including phone, texting, and email. You should be able to work independently and provide support to coworkers and veterinarians.

Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in phlebotomy, setting catheters, administration of IV fluids
  • Perform timely and quality full body/DNT radiology procedures for subsequent evaluation and treatment by DVM staff
  • Excellent communication skills with the staff and clients in a friendly, approachable manner
  • Able to obtain and record communication in a clear, and detailed information inpatient.
  • Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history. Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque, calculus)
  • Provide clients with clear post-operative instructions

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in a clinical setting
  • Veterinary Technician Certification or License (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) highly preferred or valid LVT credentials in Texas or pending credentials within 6-8 months
  • Professional appearance required; scrubs are always to be worn
  • Assist in animal restraint
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Ability to work on your feet all day
